The Biomechanics of Movement in Golf

Golf performance depends on the ability to generate high clubhead speed while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and technical control. The golf swing is a complex whole-body movement that requires coordinated interaction between the lower limbs, pelvis, trunk, upper limbs, wrists, and club. Although golf biomechanics has been widely investigated in adult and skilled players, less is known about how elite youth golfers organize their swing when adapting to clubs with different mechanical and ...

Implementação do modelo Play & Stay em jovens tenistas portugueses: a perspetiva dos treinadores

The purpose of the following research is to understand the implementation of the Play & Stay model in tennis coaching in Portugal, from the perspective of coaches who were involved in this process. The study investigated how tennis was taught prior to the model's implementation, analysed the evolution of pedagogical approaches, identified the challenges of its implementation, and explored coaches' interpretations of assessment and competition within the Play & Stay framework. A qualitative, e...

Swimming evaluation and training control: contributions of biomechanical analysis and multidimensional determinants of front crawl performance

Swimming performance is determined by the interaction of biomechanical, mechanical, physiological and training-related factors, making evaluation and training control essential for evidence-based coaching. This dissertation aimed to contribute to swimming evaluation and training control by examining the usefulness and limitations of different assessment tools in competitive front crawl swimmers. Two experimental studies and one complementary appendix were conducted. The first study compared t...

Os Efeitos dos Desportos de Lazer na Natureza na Satisfação e no Bem-Estar: Comparação com Atividades Indoor Dissertação

Growing urbanisation and sedentary lifestyles reflect an increasing demand for leisure alternatives, particularly with regard to physical activity in natural environments. The literature shows that outdoor leisure sports offer psychological and physiological benefits that differ from those of indoor activities. The aim of this study is to analyse and compare the impact of leisure sports in nature on participants' satisfaction and subjective well-being, in relation to those who engage in physi...
