Unidades de paisagem de Baião : "Traços da natureza e da cultura"

Abstract

Defined by the natural characteristics moulded by Man, the municipalityof Baião is part of a transitional space, thus constituting aprivileged area for an integrated landscape analysis, namely throughthe reconciliation of space-time distribution of its vast culturalheritage with the morphostructural, climate, distribution of naturalresources and distinct territorial dynamics. It is this set of elements,responsible for shaping the territories, that serves as an input to thedefinition of landscape units in Baião, the main objective of thisstudy. From the intersection of aspects related to geomorphology,hydrography, geology, land use and archaeological and historicalremains, resulted the identification of four landscape units, whosecharacteristics are a reflection of how Man, over time, lived in thisterritory whose occupation dates back to Prehistory.
