One of the most crucial elements of the foreign language (FL) bookscape24 is the ubiquitous 'reading text'. This chapter will seek to describe and analyse the importance of the choice of reading texts and the implicit and explicit meanings which that choice and those texts give rise to. The aim is to explore what kinds of cultural representations are constructed and if learners are allowed to explore and negotiate their own cultural experiences in relation to the foreign culture.
