Feedback Formativo no Desenvolvimento das Competências de Estudantes da Graduação de Fisioterapia: Impacto da Grelha de Avaliação

Abstract

The teaching-learning relation among students and teachers in physiotherapy courses as well as in the health area should be focused on the acquisition of competencies translated into knowledge, skills, attitudes and values relevant to professional practice. This requires the active participation of all parties involved: institution, academic managers, teachers and students, so that the student is put in the position of protagonist of their own learning, promoting motivation and self-regulation, with many authors referring to the formative feedback as the best strategy for its achievement. However, literature reveals that teachers have difficulties in transmitting an efficient feedback. The main objective of this study was to assess the impact of the evaluation grid as a formative feedback tool to improve the development of competencies in undergraduate physiotherapy students. To this end, we opted for an exploratory, prospective, descriptive, comparative study, with a direct approach, characterized by a quantitative research, in which 11 students participated, distributed in three classes of the supervised internship in neurofunctional physiotherapy, as well as the professor responsible for the classes. Each class underwent three moments of assessment with feedback, with the first moment being performed without the evaluation grid and the other two moments with the evaluation grid. To collect data, we used a socio-demographic questionnaire, a satisfaction questionnaire (teacher and student) and an evaluation grid. For all inferential calculations, we used the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS- version 20.0) for Windows and the significance level adopted was of 5%. Despite the small sample size, the results proved that the use of the evaluation grid as an instrument of formative feedback is relevant for the development of competences in physiotherapy students, and a good response for the performance of the physiotherapist teacher.
