Deriva em tempos líquidos: do caminhar como prática estética à experiência do desenho

Abstract

Walk in Liquid Times is part of an educational research based on the arts, from an a/r/tographic perspective, carried out in the context of an internship, which involves walking as an aesthetic practice. Revisiting situationist theories and the concept of psychogeographic dérive, it invites you to get lost in the city of Porto, to experience urban space and time. It describes walks taken with students from the Soares dos Reis Artistic School, between the Bonfim and Santo Ildefonso areas. These walks stand out as an aesthetic practice and as a way of experiencing alternative temporalities and behaviors, with political positioning. It shows the poetic apprehension of these experiences of the place, while organizing other senses in drawing, conceptual and communicational. It thinks of the pause, inseparable from walking, as a complement to cognitive and reflective action, and the drawing process, when incorporated into the walk, as an enhancer of this potential. Simultaneously, it presents the development of the artistic practice of the intern / teacher / artist / researcher, arising from her walking experiences, from her imaginations of each encounter, with the other and with the space-place, and the permanent dialogue with some readings. Some of her subjective narratives are exposed, triggered by drawing, painting, sculpture, performance and installation. It is revealed that, in the sensitive apprehension of the territory, walking and stopping call for reflections. On the one hand, about the (im)possibility of living the experience and about the ability of art and politics to immobilize the rules that regulate normal experience, common sense. On the other hand, about the fragmentation, alienation and spectacularization of the city that is felt today, especially in a pandemic period, and about the technological logic, formatting and western manipulation of time.
