| Abstract: | The essay's main subject is the city of São Paulo. The head-objective it to fully acknowledge the current city structure, ambience and urban image. Once identifi ed and presented the core-theme during the fi rst chapter, the essay's second chapter turns to the most relevant events since the city's establishment. The fi nal purpose is to comprehend the shaping process and the city evolution, embraced during a confi ned historical period. The features and specifi cities from contemporary São Paulo are developed during the second part of this work, not only directed to the dualities identifi ed through the centrality's, infrastructures and society characterization, but also turned to its identity structuring elements. Therefore, São Paulo Explanation evolves holding on four structural points: Presentation, Development, Dualities and Identity, fi nishing with the explanation for São Paulo's future. |
| Description: | O tema central desta dissertação é a cidade de São Paulo. O objetivo é compreender a estrutura, o ambiente e a imagem urbana atual da cidade. Identifi cado e apresentado o tema central no primeiro capítulo, os acontecimentos urbanos mais relevantes desde a sua fundação, são analisados num segundo momento deste trabalho. A abrangência do período histórico estudado tem como objetivo entender o processo de formação e evolução da cidade. Na segunda parte do trabalho, caracterizam-se as especifi cidades da cidade atual de São Paulo, não só ao nível das dualidades, identifi cadas através da caracterização das centralidades, infraestrutura e sociedade, tal como dos elementos estruturadores da sua identidade. Desta forma, vai-se Explicando São Paulo através de quatro pontos estruturantes: Apresentação, Evolução, Dualidades e Identidade, concluindo-se esta dissertação explicando o futuro para São Paulo. |
