Abstract

This article on the Portuguese translations of Jean-Jacques Rousseau's work intends to bring to light new elements which can ead to a closer knowledge of Rousseau's reception in Portugal. The phenomenon of the translator is analysed in regard to its informative wealth, as is the way and nature of penetration in the reception of this author, thereby allowing us to explain the reasons which lead to a late boom of translations.
