Culturas urbanas e sociabilidades juvenis contemporâneas: um (breve) roteiro teórico

Abstract

This paper has an eminently theoretical nature and proposesa brief conceptual itinerary about how, since the post-war,the social sciences in general and sociology in particular,have considered the contemporary youth (sub)cultures. Itrecovers some of the essential foundations of the disciplineassociated with the Chicago School; then it discusses theinvaluable contribution of the cultural studies but alsothe main criticisms that were pointed out to the CCCSsresearchers; and, fi nally, it explores some of the recenttheoretical contributions associated with the so-calledpost-subcultural studies, refl ecting and considering themain limits, dilemmas and challenges that are currentlyfaced by researchers who propose to study contemporaryyouth cultures and sociabilities.
