Reabilitação Integrada da cidade consolidada a partir da sua periferia. O caso da Quinta do Mitra no Vale de Campanhã

Abstract

This research aims the study of coping solutions regarding the peripheral character of the Parish of Campanhã, located at the city of Porto, Portugal. At the same time it intends to influence the development of the inner city from the Eastern part of this council. Starting from the particular case of Quinta do Mitra, this dissertation stresses the need for rehabilitation interventions in an integrated environment that locates them either in space or in time and the urban context in which they operate and in all components that they inherent. This goal is attempted via collaboration of a working set of entities linked to the local administration, education, culture and recreation. In addition to the evolution and characterization of the subject of study, is carried out the same procedure on the evolution of the concept of Heritage in its cultural, ecological and social components. The analysed case studies allow the enrichment of the methodology development process presented at the end of this dissertation. The study culminates in an intervention proposal centred around the concept of the built heritage integrated rehabilitation. This is made by taking account the cultural, environmental and social aspects of the territory of Campanhã, looking for participation of institutions and the community in this operation, seeking a citywide repercussion.
