| Abstract: | This Dissertation is defined as a second look at an intervention method used in a pre-existing traditional agricultural structure with a real and practical basis underneath it. Such work came from a seasonal housing rehabilitation (located in Felgueiras county) proposal by my parents in the past year of 2014. Therefore, in this paper the journey towards the paths of Architecture, History, Geography and many other fields is exhibited and in which such subjects were explored together with one main goal: to contribute as an approach to an intervention method for traditional agricultural structures that does justice to these enormously valuable and too many times unrecognized buildings. Several means of investigation and analysis were used in order for this thesis to be as thorough as possible, research that became fundamental due to two reasons: first for the overall understanding of the topic itself and for the comprehension of the matter; second for the formulation of an enlightened and safe project. Lastly, this work is intended not only to contribute to the existing vast studies regarding the portuguese vernacular architecture but also to unveil the tremendous relevance of rehabilitating traditional agricultural structures to the current social, economical and cultural panorama. "1. The architect should be equipped with knowledge of many branches of study and varied kinds of learning, for it is by his judgement that all work done by the other arts is put to test. This knowledge is the child of practice and theory. Practice is the continuous and regular exercise of employment where manual work is done with any necessary material according to the design of a drawing. | Description: | A Dissertação aqui apresentada define-se como a revisitação de uma metodologia de intervenção numa estrutura tradicional agrícola para a concretização de um projeto. Este surgiu com a proposta de reabilitação de uma propriedade situada no concelho de Felgueiras, para habitação sazonal, que foi solicitada pelos meus pais no passado ano de 2014. Assim, expõe-se neste trabalho uma viagem pelos longos caminhos da Arquitetura, da História, da Geografia e de tantas outras disciplinas as quais, em conjunto, foram exploradas com o objetivo principal de contribuir para a aproximação a um método de intervenção em estruturas tradicionais agrícolas, que faça jus ao valor imenso destas construções vernaculares, tantas vezes ainda ignorado. De forma a apoiar este estudo, recorreu-se a diferentes métodos de investigação e análise, abrangendo o máximo de oportunidades de recolha e ensaio, com o intuito de o tornar o mais completo possível. Este revelou-se mesmo fundamental, em primeiro lugar na compreensão da matéria em questão e em segundo lugar na elaboração de um projeto seguro e esclarecido. Por fim, com esta Dissertação pretende-se não só colaborar para o já vasto domínio da arquitetura vernacular portuguesa mas também se procura (se a ambição não for demasiada) divulgar a enorme pertinência da reabilitação de estruturas tradicionais agrícolas para o panorama social, económico e cultural da atualidade. "1. O arquiteto deverá estar munido de conhecimentos de muitos ramos de estudo e os mais variados tipos de aprendizado, para que possa julgar e testar o trabalho executado por outras artes. Este conhecimento é fruto da prática e da teoria. Prática é o exercício do emprego regular e contínuo do trabalho manual que é feito com cada material necessário e de acordo com os desenhos de um projeto.
