Abstract

This dissertation aims to define an intervention approach to the extensive area of salines and deactivated dried codfish industry, situated in a strong fluvial context, integrating the "Special Protection Zone" of the Tagus Estuary, in the Alcochete Village. The remaining traces of the desindustrialization, through their prominence, open an opportunity of rehabilitation and renewing on this intervention area. Not only is this an opportunity in the current context of economic crisis, but mainly due to the memoir and collective identity which the place still holds. In order to improve the awareness of the landscape value and heritage of this area, this work aims to integrate it on the context which surrounds it on all possible levels - social, economically, culturally - without losing its identity. The goal of this work focus on the search of a new "balance" on the entire area and its surroundings, handled like a whole, through the articulation of the different existing elements, a new set of complementary programs, supported on a structure of continuous public movement.
