| Abstract: | The current social and economic context demands for new values, models of consumption and spaces; as well as for the creation of instruments that allow for a sustainable regeneration of the urban landscape. This dissertation intends to highlight these major concerns, as well as study the role and contribution of art towards urban regeneration. How can art become a strategic instrument for an urban and social regeneration process? Drawing from the constant mutations that city spaces have suffered, whether social, cultural, economic, global; this study is underpinned by an approach of regeneration within the urban limits. It allows for a reflection on the concept of gentrification and of all the processes that constitute it, as well as exploring to what extend are those same processes influenced or promoted by art - whether the practice of art or an art object. This project also aims to introduce several reflexions, from a theoretical point of view, in a real and present context of a municipal project. |
| Description: | Face ao actual contexto social e económico evidencia-se ainda mais a necessidade de repensar valores, modelos consumos e espaços, assim como de criar novos instrumentos que capacitem regenerações sustentáveis. A presente dissertação tem subjacente esta preocupação, procurando, também estudar o papel e o contributo da arte na regeneração urbana. Como é que a arte se pode tornar uma ferramenta para a regeneração social e cultural? Tomando como ponto de partida as constantes mutações de que foram alvo as cidades e os seus espaços, sejam elas sociais, económicas, culturais, globais, entre outras, a abordagem da regeneração dentro dos limites urbanos induz-nos à reflexão sobre o conceito da gentrificação e todos os processos que a constituem assim como, posteriormente, em que medida podem esses processos ser influenciados ou promovidos pela arte, seja ela prática ou objecto? Este trabalho visa, também, a introdução das diversas reflexões num projecto teórico, embora assente num contexto, presente e real, de um projecto municipal com fundamentos regeneradores e artísticos. |
