| Abstract: | The vast extension of the deteriorated social houses complexes, built on a massive scale for a roofless population, determinates the Chilean housing landscape. This fact has caught the attention of various organizations, which propose diverse strategies of regeneration, all with the finality of improving the urban structure. This dissertation presents two distinct methodologies that attempt to investigate the subjects associated with the regeneration of social housing projects in Chile, approaching new urban strategies and intervention methodologies compared to the state programs and policies. Through a concrete case study - the Vicunã Mackenna complex - it is also attempted its revision to the contemporary circumstances and demands, interpreting new living standards, without losing sight of the specific Chilean context |
| Description: | A vasta extensão de conjuntos de habitação social deteriorados, construídos de forma massiva para uma população "sem tecto", marca o panorama habitacional chileno. Este facto, tem despertado a atenção de diversos organismos que propõem diferentes estratégias de regeneração, tendo como finalidade a melhoria da estrutura urbana. Esta dissertação apresenta duas hipóteses de trabalho alternativas que procuram investigar as problemáticas associadas à regeneração de conjuntos de habitação social no Chile, abordando novas estratégias urbanas e metodologias de intervenção, em contraponto às políticas e programas estatais. Procura-se, ainda, através de um caso de estudo - Conjunto Vicuña Mackenna - readaptá-lo às exigências actuais, interpretando novos modos de habitar, enquadrando e considerando, todavia, a realidade chilena. |
