Da Circunstância ao projecto. Regeneração de conjuntos habitacionais degradados em Santiago do Chile

Abstract

The vast extension of the deteriorated social houses complexes, built on a massive scale for a roofless population, determinates the Chilean housing landscape. This fact has caught the attention of various organizations, which propose diverse strategies of regeneration, all with the finality of improving the urban structure. This dissertation presents two distinct methodologies that attempt to investigate the subjects associated with the regeneration of social housing projects in Chile, approaching new urban strategies and intervention methodologies compared to the state programs and policies. Through a concrete case study - the Vicunã Mackenna complex - it is also attempted its revision to the contemporary circumstances and demands, interpreting new living standards, without losing sight of the specific Chilean context
