O crime organizado em Portugal: sua caraterização e ambiguidades

Abstract

The study of organized crime is a growing concern in Europe and all over the world. However, all though many of our security policies are shaped by the risk and threat of this phenomenon there is little or none information about this crime in Portugal. Through the analyses of official and international reports complemented by interviews to criminal police agents, we assess the existence of organized crime activities in national territory to a level that begins to reveal itself of concern, specially the economic and financial crime. Far from the degree of sophistication found in other European countries, organized crime in Portugal is evolving and far from being objectively known.
