| Title: | Polymeric Membrane Reactors |
| Issue Date: | 2008 |
| Abstract: | The aim of this chapter is the study of membrane reactors with polymeric membranes, particularly catalytic polymeric membranes. After an introduction where the main advantages and disadvantages of the use of polymeric membranes are summarised, a review of the main areas where they have been applied, integrated in chemical reactors, is presented. This excludes the field of bio-membranes processes, which is analysed in a specific chapter of this book. Particular attention is then given to modelling works in the fields of polymeric catalytic membrane reactors, where the membrane is catalytic itself. The various models that have been presented in the literature, as well as the numerical details regarding the respective mathematical equations, are shown and discussed. At the end, 3 different examples are presented and solved with the software package "MADONNA". |
