Penafiel 1809 : a cidade que os franceses viram

Abstract

The study summarizes the accounts about Penafiel, its built heritage and local society given by foreign military who had known the town during the Peninsular War in which they were involved, as well as by foreign travellers who had visited the town few years after the end of the conflict. The latter also left us the first pictorial testimony of Penafiel urban area.
