This article intends to develop an intertextual approach to João Cabral de Melo Neto’s Morte e Vida Severina (1956) and Ferreira Gullar’s João Boa-Morte, Cabra marcado para morrer (1962). Both texts are rooted in social protest and participation in the portrayal of the Brazilian Northeast Region. The condition of «severinidade» and «nordestinidade» as topological idiosyncrasy. Textual genres: the «auto de natal» and the «romance de cordel».pt_PT
