| Title: | INFOBUS: public transport information on the World Wide Web |
| Issue Date: | 1999 |
| Abstract: | The INFOBUS system aims to help citizens to plan their journeys using available public transport systems. This system uses part of the information defined during the operational planning process of the public transport companies and makes it available to the citizen over the World Wide Web. It includes information about bus line and bus stop timetables, nearest bus stops from a certain location or address, and best routes between two or more points using available services, based on several criteria. In order to make the system easier to use and to provide added functionality, a geographical representation of the area covered by the transport network is presented to the user, based on a Geographical Information System (GIS). It displays the networks of the companies subscribing to the INFOBUS system. |
