Abstract

This study addresses the social phenomenon of violence associated with sport and contemporary perspectives on the role of the Security Forces and Services in managing and preventing incidents at sporting events. We will analyse the evolution of this phenomenon in Portugal, its main trends and the growing relevance of sports law and criminal liability in defining legislative measures to combat violence. The study aims to highlight the contribution that Artificial Intelligence, as a future prospect, through facial recognition systems in the perception of security, could be used as a tool to support the work of the Security Forces and Services in identifying individuals and early detection of risky behaviour. At the same time, we will emphasise the importance of ensuring that all users of sports venues are properly identified, ensuring traceability, accountability and trust.
