Futebol Formação: Análise comparativa entre o Modelo de Gestão do CTFD Olival com o Projeto Elites do FC Porto

Abstract

The training of young talent is no longer a mere supplement, but something that is becoming increasingly important for clubs. With the growing competitiveness of the market and financial constraints, investing in training has become a survival and growth strategy for portuguese clubs. Thus, the culture of revealing young talent, which is ingrained in portuguese football, is gaining more and more strength, driven by the need to train quality players to strengthen teams and then generate revenue through their transfers. However, this path is fraught with obstacles as there is great competition for talent and adaptation to professional football requires special care. Football academies therefore play a crucial role in the training of these players, although the effective management of these structures is still a challenge for many clubs. The aim of this study is to understand how FC Porto, one of the leading clubs in Portugal and the world, organises and manages its football academies and to understand their different contexts. The creation of the Elites Project made it possible to expand the training network beyond the club's training centre in Porto - CTFD Olival. Training centres were set up in Braga, Aveiro and the Algarve with the aim of identifying and developing even more promising young players. This study takes a deeper look at the management models implemented by FC Porto, comparing the Elites Project with the traditional Olival Sports Training Centre, analysing the infrastructures, contexts and methodologies and how this influences the development of athletes. By investigating the specificities of each model, this work aims to identify best practices, challenges faced and opportunities for improvement. It is hoped that the results of this research will contribute to the debate on the management of youth football training centres, offering valuable information for FC Porto and other clubs looking to optimise their training processes and achieve excellence in talent development.
