A Importância da Análise de Vídeo na Perceção e no Comportamento do Jogador: Estágio Profissionalizante realizado na equipa Sub.19 do Rio Ave Futebol Clube

Abstract

The present internship report was fulfilled within the context of the 2nd cycle of the Master in High Performance Sports Training, from the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto. Specifically, the internship, which took place at the Sub-19 level of Rio Ave Futebol Clube, aimed to describe and record, in a reflective way, the experiences lived during the same. Although I had an incredible experience and had the opportunity to work, question and understand the world around what being a coach and training itself entails, the main goal of this report was to focus on the topic of using video as an observation and analysis tool, both for our team and for the opponent, to develop a final presentation video for players. In this way, I tried to reflect on the leadership capacity of the coach, since Mister Luís Silva (Sub-19 main coach) has extensive experience as a professional player and is a Level 4 coach, which made this experience much richer, from a personal perspective, since I had the opportunity to make learning that I'll never forget. It is also worth noting what I learned from Mister José Martins, Mister Gonçalo, Mister Paquito, Mister Nuno and Mister João, since they also contain extensive experience, helping me throughout the journey, in any circumstance or difficulty. In this sense, throughout these months, I was able to draw many lessons such as: the leadership of a coach is essential for the existence of a positive harmony around the entire technical team, staff and players; the coach cannot just be seen as someone with have skills inherent only in the game and training - as technical and tactical functions -, but also to be gifted with communicational skills, considering the uniqueness of each player, demonstrating to be, on the one hand, a good listener and, on the other, able to pass a message, attending the needs of each one; although nowadays the Game Analysis is an indispensable method in defining the strategic plan for the next game, this, per se, cannot undo the dynamics inherent to the characteristics that the coach's game model contemplates. Actually, it should be complementary to the training process; and the use of the analysis of the team's and the opponent's games in video format has become an increasingly indispensable method to demonstrate content that the coach considers essential for the players, thus contributing to a greater performance of the team. In conclusion, this whole experience proved to be very enriching, given the contact with a very experienced technical team, and with an enormous availability of sharing, which opened my horizons as for the various areas inherent in the world of being a coach, enriched both by the information underlying the literature, and by brainstorming with other stakeholders.
