Lost (in) the chapter: afinal, o que fazem (as) mulheres?: algumas notas em torno de um romance inconjunto

Abstract

In this article, we re-read O Que Fazem Mulheres and revisit some strands of an extraordinary novel, given to multiple approaches, which justly deserves the label of philosophical romance, attributed to it by its author. In a dialogue with other exegetes of Camilo, and grounded in a close reading of the text, we undertake an anatomy of the novel seeking to highlight its critical dimension and the signs and programs of modernity it contains-from a polemical defense of women to a critique of the dichotomy between reason and emotion, while, in various ways, calling upon the cooperation of readers.
