Ipatimup: Origens e Desenvolvimento de um Centro de Excelência Científica em Investigação e Aplicação Clínica

Abstract

This dissertation examines the history and the impact of the Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology of the University of Porto, one of Portugal's most influential scientific institutions. Based on interviews with researchers and collaborators, as well as on an extensive review of bibliographic and institutional sources, this study explores the motivations behind its creation, the challenges faced, and the scientific achievements and collaborations that shaped its trajectory. By integrating research, education, and service provision, the Institute has become a model of excellence in the biomedical field. This work highlights its role in advancing Science, Medicine and Health Literacy, while also addressing its future challenges and opportunities.
