| Abstract: | Port development has been and continues to be a catalyst for the development of many coastal cities, but at the same time, in some cases, it has been a disruptive element in the city's relationship with the sea. This dissertation aims to focus on solutions to mitigate these disruptions, using the city of Setúbal as a study object and case study. By analyzing the city's evolution and its current situation, as well as the projects previously carried out for the riverfront, we will focus on problems that persist today, notably the loss of character of the city/river relationship and the impact caused by the railway infrastructure. This dissertation formalizes a proposal for intervention on the coastal line of the city of Setúbal, with the aim of revitalizing the riverside area in order to recover the links between the city and its inhabitants. |
| Description: | A exploração portuária foi e continua a ser um catalisador do desenvolvimento de grande parte das cidades costeiras, mas simultaneamente, em alguns casos, um elemento perturbador na relação da cidade com o mar. Esta dissertação pretende focar-se em soluções para mitigar essas perturbações, utilizando a cidade de Setúbal como objeto de estudo e caso prático de projeto. Analisando a evolução da cidade e a sua situação atual, bem como os projetos anteriormente realizados para a frente ribeirinha, iremos focar-nos em problemáticas que persistem na atualidade, nomeadamente a descaracterização da relação cidade/rio e o impacto provocado pela infraestrutura ferroviária. Formaliza-se então nesta dissertação uma proposta de intervenção na linha costeira da cidade de Setúbal, com o intuito de dinamizar a zona ribeirinha de modo a recuperar os elos de ligação entre a cidade e seus habitantes. |
