| Abstract: | The current climatic context combined with the progressive deterioration of existing buildings and the change in comfort principles motivated a reflection on the suitability of these structures to new conditions. However, the main challenge arises when it becomes necessary to intervene in a building with architectural interest, especially when it is not classified as heritage. Taking as a study case a housing complex located on Rua Marques da Silva, designed in 1935 by the architect Januário Godinho, this dissertation aims to develop a set of intervention strategies that reconcile the preservation of the authenticity of the original building, with the need to improve energy performance and housing comfort. To contextualize, is proposed a critical reading of the themes of intervention in built heritage and housing comfort, as well as a brief analysis of the current legislative framework. Subsequently, a study is carried out on the evolution and current circumstances of the housing complex, including an analysis of Januário Godinho's career and the characteristics of his work. In a final phase, three intervention hypotheses are developed, each with a different degree of intervention, ranging from a minimal intervention to a more transformative solution that meets the performance parameters established by Portuguese legislation. The primary goal of this research is to understand to what extent energy efficiency and interior comfort can be achieved without compromising the authenticity and integrity of a building recognized architectural value. |
| Description: | O atual contexto climático aliado à progressiva deterioração do edificado existente e à mudança dos princípios de conforto motivaram uma reflexão sobre a adequação destas estruturas às novas condicionantes. No entanto, o principal desafio surge quando é necessário intervir num edifício com interesse arquitetónico, sobretudo quando não classificado como património. Tomando como caso de estudo o conjunto habitacional situado na Rua Marques da Silva, projetado, em 1935, pelo arquiteto Januário Godinho, a presente dissertação visa refletir sobre um conjunto de estratégias de intervenção que permitem conciliar a preservação da autenticidade do conjunto, com a necessidade de melhoria do desempenho energético e do conforto habitacional. Como forma de enquadramento, propõe-se, num primeiro momento, uma leitura crítica sobre as temáticas da intervenção no património construído e do conforto habitacional, bem como uma breve análise do quadro legislativo atual. Posteriormente, é realizado um estudo sobre a evolução e as circunstâncias atuais do conjunto habitacional, contemplando uma análise do percurso de Januário Godinho e das características da sua obra. Numa última fase, são desenvolvidas três hipóteses de intervenção, cada uma com um grau distinto de transformação, abrangendo desde uma intervenção mínima até uma solução mais transformadora que cumpre os parâmetros de desempenho estabelecidos pela legislação portuguesa. O principal objetivo desta investigação é compreender até que ponto se consegue alcançar os níveis de eficiência energética e de conforto interior sem comprometer a autenticidade e a integridade de um edifício com reconhecido valor arquitetónico. |
