| Abstract: | Artificial intelligence (AI) is the new medical hot topic, being applied mainly in specialties with a strong imaging component. In the domain of gynecology, AI has been tested and shown vast potential in several areas with promising results, with an emphasis on oncology. However, fewer studies have been made focusing on urogynecology, a branch of gynecology known for using multiple imaging exams (IEs) and tests in the management of women's pelvic floor health. This review aims to illustrate the current state of AI in urogynecology, namely with the use of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) in diagnostics and as imaging tools, discuss possible future prospects for AI in this field, and go over its limitations that challenge its safe implementation. |
| Description: | A inteligência artificial (IA) é o novo tema do momento da medicina, sendo aplicada sobretudo em especialidades com uma forte componente imagiológica. No domínio da ginecologia, a IA tem sido testada e demonstrado um vasto potencial em várias áreas com resultados promissores, com destaque para a oncologia. No entanto, são escassos os estudos que se debruçam sobre a uroginecologia, um ramo da ginecologia conhecido pela utilização de múltiplos exames imagiológicos (EI) e testes na gestão da saúde do pavimento pélvico da mulher. Esta revisão tem como objetivo ilustrar o estado atual da IA em uroginecologia, nomeadamente com a utilização de machine learning (ML) e deep learning (DL) em diagnósticos e como ferramentas de imagiologia, discutir possíveis perspectivas futuras para a IA neste campo e analisar as suas limitações que desafiam a sua implementação segura. |
