O Primeiro Jogo da Carreira

Abstract

This teaching practice report, entitled "O Primeiro Jogo da Carreira", was carried out within the Curricular Unit of the Professional Training, included in the Master's Degree in Physical Education Teaching in Basic and Secondary Education at the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto. This document reports the moments and challenges experienced by a former basketball player and current pre-service teacher in his first experience in a real teaching context. Throughout the academic year, his theoretical knowledge acquired during the first year of the Master's Degree was put into practice and adapted to the context in front of him. This report is made up of fourteen chapters, all referring to different phases of a basketball game, representing the different moments that happened while classes were taught to the Resident Class and to the Shared Class together with three other pre-service teachers from the same course, which were always combined with the help and guidance given by the Cooperate Teacher from school and Advisor Professor from faculty. In order to enrich the knowledge, the topic of gender perception in rhythmic and expressive activities was addressed, linked to the low participation of boys in these classes.
