O percurso do Aprendiz que sonhou ser Chef

Abstract

The journey of the apprentice who dreamed of becoming a chef is a document prepared by a student-intern (the author) that portrays the path taken during his year of professional internship. An educational institution in Vila Nova de Gaia was the space that hosted him, with the teaching context being 10th year students, as a resident class, and 6th year students, as a class shared with the remaining colleagues from the internship group. This document presents a metaphor between the development of a physical education student-intern and an apprentice chef, highlighting the challenges and learning processes of the author who admits little culinary talent. From the shock with reality in the initial phase of this process, through the characterization of the apprentice who wanted to be a chef, or the restaurant where he worked, to the path that defined the creation of the perfect dish, it was essential to adapt to the context and develop plans based on well-founded and well-defined theories, trying to always captivate the students. A positive connection motivated by different communication strategies allowed the development of constructive and enriching activities in all implemented activities, motivating the use of evaluation methods that aimed to serve the teaching-learning process and not mere serialization. Active participation in class council meetings, school sports activities and organization of events also made it possible to understand the importance of developing skills far beyond teaching capacity. Last, but not least, the study of new culinary arts will be presented with the aim of understanding the impact of teaching collective alternative modalities on students' levels of motivational orientation.
