| Abstract: | Exosomes, once considered cellular cast-offs, are now regarded with transformative potential in cancer care. Recent technological progress in isolating and analysing exosomes fostered innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. These nanoscale communicators carry biomolecules mirroring their cells of origin, enabling early cancer detection and continuous disease monitoring, bypassing invasive biopsies. Engineered exosomes are emerging as precise drug delivery vectors, adept at crossing biological barriers and delivering treatment directly to tumors, enhancing efficacy while reducing toxicity. Immune system modulation through exosomes opens new frontiers in immunotherapy, offering tailored, effective, and less invasive options in cancer treatment. As they transition into clinical trials, addressing scalability and regulatory challenges remains paramount for the integration of exosomes into routine cancer care, marking a promising era in oncology. |
| Description: | Os exossomas, outrora considerados debris celulares, agora são vistos com potencial transformador na terapia contra o cancro. O progresso tecnológico recente no isolamento e análise de exossomas promoveu abordagens inovadoras diagnósticas e terapêuticas. Estes nano-comunicadores carregam biomoléculas que refletem as suas células de origem, possibilitando a deteção precoce do cancro e a monitorização contínua da doença, evitando biópsias invasivas. Exossomas modificados surgiram como vetores precisos de entrega de drogas, hábeis em atravessar barreiras biológicas e entregar tratamento diretamente aos tumores, aumentando a eficácia e reduzindo a toxicidade. A modulação do sistema imunológico por meio de exossomas abre novas fronteiras na imunoterapia, oferecendo opções de tratamento do cancro personalizadas, eficazes e menos invasivas.
