A Intersecção Entre O Álcool e Outras Substâncias Psicoativas e a Rotina Laboral: Um Estudo Quantitativo

Abstract

The consumption of psychoactive substances in the workplace has serious repercussions, increasing the incidence of accidents, impairing the health and productivity of workers, and resulting in significant costs for organizations. Therefore, understanding the factors that contribute to this consumption is crucial for developing prevention and intervention strategies that promote well-being, productivity, and safety. This study aims to investigate the prevalence and patterns of substance use and the characteristics of the work environment that contribute to this problem. A total of 214 participants met the inclusion criteria and responded to a questionnaire, using validated instruments such as the AUDIT, ASSIST, Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire, and Job Satisfaction Questionnaire. The analysis of the results indicated that 61.7% of the participants have low-risk or abstinent alcohol consumption, while 17.7% exhibit problematic behaviors related to alcohol. Additionally, a strong correlation (ρ = 0.62) was found between alcohol consumption and the use of other psychoactive substances. Factors such as relationships with hierarchical superiors and job satisfaction are negatively correlated with higher alcohol consumption scores. The results highlight the need for targeted interventions to address addictive behaviors in the workplace, emphasizing the importance of psychosocial factors and their various impacts. This study contributes to understanding the complex interaction between occupational environments and substance use, providing a basis for future research and the development of occupational health policies.
