A receção da poesia cancioneiril no século XVIII: um manuscrito atribuído a D. Diogo de Meneses, claveiro da Ordem de Cristo

Abstract

The COD. 13467 of the National Library of Portugal, until now ignored by the academic community, is a poetic manuscript of the eighteenth century that claims to be a copy of a manuscript dated 1508 and whose contents would have been composed in the year 1498. This manuscript contains all the collective compositions present in the Cancioneiro Geral compiled by Garcia de Resende in which D. Diogo de Meneses participates, as well as a Life of the author and, at the end, a set of sonnets and elegies in Spanish. The existence of this manuscript and the fact that D. Diogo de Meneses is a minor poet of the Cancioneiro Geral raises interesting questions. This work presents this manuscript, proposing the hypothesis that it is a mystification or fictionalization based on the Cancioneiro Geral, on manuscript songbooks of the sixteenth century and on information provided by bibliographers of the modern era.
