Abstract

Through the development of a project for a summer house comes the opportunity to explore and attempt to address concerns that have emerged throughout the academic journey, thus fostering a symbiotic relationship between the project experimentation and theoretical inquiry, sustaining and confirming each other. The investigation in this study starts with the research around the material/mental dichotomy, which relates man with the matter and constructive logic of the architectural object. Taking into consideration that the physical and material reality interacts with the human sensorial realm, the aim is to explore how this interaction occurs and how the architect, as a creator, can awaken the observer's senses - ensuring that before any emotional abstraction, the constructed truth prevails. In this logic, the material that will serve as the study object is concrete, specifically in terms of exposed concrete construction. The choice stems from the material's structural resistance and formal and textural flexibility, which consequently enhances the observer's sensory stimulation. The role of the observer is equally relevant to the study, as the interpretation of the architectural experience comes from their existencial territory, leading to the exploration of philosophical, psychological and sociological themes, under which the remaining topics are sustained.
