Abstract

The Professional Internship is the final stage in the search to enter the teaching profession, in this case in the subject of Physical Education in Primary and Secondary Education and is presented in this document entitled Professional Internship Report. The internship represents a journey in the discovery of contextual learning and awareness of the profession and its objectives, together with the constant (re)building of a personal and professional identity. This document aims to describe the experiences of the student trainee (the author) in the real school context, based in a co-operating school in the city of Espinho. An agglomeration of setbacks, reflections, difficulties, and learnings that resulted from accompanying a secondary school class for one school year. Delving deeper into the subject of handball arose from the difficulty of teaching the sport and the personal limitations felt during practice, as well as the search for some assumptions about how to teach a subject that seems difficult to teach in schools. The Professional Internship year is a remarkable stage, both for the negative moments and for the positive experiences, since all the moments, conflicts and achievements were essential to boost the author's personal, social, and professional development
