| dc.description.abstract | In the short stories by Rubem Fonseca (1925-2020) there is an excess (of violence - physical, psychological, social, linguistic), strangely combined with a strong mark of contention. One of its expressions is related to the regular appearance of dwarves, which seems a kind of obsession. This overexposure highlights, on the one hand, the margin to which people with achondroplasia are relegated and, on the other hand, acts as a mirror in which others look at themselves, almost always in a too restrained way, just at a glance, but also with an excessive anxiety that takes them to the other side, to a kind of supernatural world. However, the silence, the gap, the lack, are too noticeable, and it is up to the reader to break this containment. | |
