| Title: | Mesteirais de Loulé: a regulamentação municipal dos ofícios (séculos XIV-XVI) |

| Abstract: | This work is part of the research developed under the MedCrafts project (PTDC/HAR-HIS/31427/2017). The goals of this project included creating an in-depth study of the activities of the craftsmen in Portugal, such as their organisation and productive structures, through the analysis of various sources, namely the records of municipal councils. Among the different cities and towns already studied - Braga, Guimarães, Porto, Coimbra, Santarém, Lisbon, Évora and Setúbal - there was an urgent need to reflect on the town of Loulé, whose records date back to the end of the 14th century, more precisely to 1384. Based on the available books for the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, it was possible to identify a plethora of activities associated with the daily life of the town and to recognise specific aspects of the regulation of the craft trades associated with them. Based on this survey, a comparison will be made with other Portuguese towns, seeking to identify the main demands of the craftsmen and the council resolutions concerning them. |
| Description: | Este trabalho insere-se na investigação desenvolvida no âmbito do projeto MedCrafts (PTDC/HAR-HIS/31427/2017). Entre os objetivos deste projeto, incluía-se desenvolver um estudo aprofundado das atividades dos mesteirais em Portugal, como a sua organização e estruturas produtivas, através da análise de várias fontes, nomeadamente as atas de vereação concelhias. De entre as várias cidades e vilas já estudadas - Braga, Guimarães, Porto, Coimbra, Santarém, Lisboa, Évora e Setúbal - urgia uma reflexão sobre a vila de Loulé, cujas atas recuam até finais do século XIV, mais precisamente a 1384. A partir dos livros de atas conhecidos para os séculos XIV, XV e XVI foi possível identificar uma plêiade de mesteirais associados ao quotidiano da vila, assim como reconhecer aspetos concretos da regulamentação dos ofícios artesanais a eles associados. Partindo deste levantamento, será feito um exercício de comparação com outras cidades e vilas portuguesas, procurando identificar as principais exigências dos mesteirais e as resoluções concelhias sobre eles. |
