Abstract

The present dissertation proposes to study the transformations of the architect's profession regarding the evolution of construction techniques, especially in the industrial scenario. To this end, the international theoretical perspectives are analyzed in relation to their respective historical contexts, highlighting the benefits and concerns that have been manifesting themselves since the Industrial Revolution. For a more faithful appreciation of reality, in discussion with the German architectural studio 'Rundzwei Architekten', the development of 3 of their projects that propose industrialized practices - of standardization, modular construction and prefabrication methods - is analyzed to understand which are, in fact, the changes that affect the architectural process. Finally, the debate that arises between industrial practices and the most recent digital tools is explored, in a reflection on the architect's role in a near future and considering the contemporary needs. In short, the aim is to contribute to a practice of architecture in line with the possibilities that technological and industrial transformations can positively bring to the profession.
