Facebook e mobilização cívica em tempos de Troika

Abstract

In this study we have analysed Facebook as an expressive instrument of civic and political participation. We examined groups of Portuguese civil society that were organized to respond to the recessive scenarios that resulted from the 2007 subprime economic crisis and the intervention of the Troika in Portugal from 2011 onwards. In order to attain these objectives, we resorted to a mixed methodology, which included content analysis of Facebook pages and interviews with activists from eight organizations. At the end of the research, we concluded that there is a reconfiguration of conventional political action with the emergence of other participatory processes.
