Será que há uma forma única de os humanos serem humanos? (II.) O caso do animalista contra o neo-lockeano

Abstract

This article falls within a series of investigations dedicated to Aristotelianism in moral philosophy which center on the question whether there is a single way for humans to be human. In the first piece of the series I focused on John McDowell's conception of reasons for acting as he debates with Philippa Foot what it means to be a naturalist. In this second piece I consider the clash of positions on personal identity between animalism and neo-lockeanism, exemplified by Paul Snowdon and Derek Parfit respectively. The Aristotelian moral philosopher sides with animalism against neo-lockeanism.
