O Projecto Progressivo na Habitação para o Maior Número. Estudo comparativo entre a obra de B. V. Doshi e A. Aravena

Abstract

The present work intends to investigate the concept of the progressive project, specifically in Housing for the Great Number. Through a theoretical study of essential authors within the theme of progressive housing and through a comparative analysis of works by the Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi and the Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena, a network of concepts will be woven, related to the inhabitants' participation on the architectural project, analyzing the dwelling's transformations over time. The work addresses the progressive housing theme as a starting point for the analysis of the relation between architect and inhabitant, on habitational projects, within economically adverse contexts, in which, usually, the inhabitant has minimum choice on the design and constructive decisions of his own domestic space. This analysis then aims to understand the complex relationship between the inhabitant and their home and searches for ways to ensure a better dwelling experience.
