| Abstract: | Contemporary society is going through a period of crisis on several levels, namely economic and social, requiring some reflection upon the discipline of architecture and the role of the architect as responsible and active agents in transforming this scenario. The way in which, both city and society, have been changing and manifesting challenges the structures and hierarchies of power and of decision. As such, this paper seeks to place architecture and the architect as joint and supporting forces regarding these issues. By using Centro Comercial STOP's particular case, located in the eastern area of Porto, currently being occupied as a hub of musical production, we look to show how participative and collaborative ways of doing architecture can present themselves as real alternatives towards the restructuring of social politics. |
| Description: | A sociedade contemporânea vive um período de crise a vários níveis, designadamente económico e social, sendo necessária uma reflexão sobre o contributo da disciplina da arquitetura e o papel do arquiteto enquanto agentes responsáveis e ativos, na transformação deste cenário. A forma como a cidade e a sociedade se vem alterando e manifestando, coloca em causa as estruturas e hierarquias de poder e de decisão. Como tal, o presente trabalho procura posicionar a arquitetura e o arquiteto enquanto forças coadjuvantes destas questões. A partir do caso particular do Centro Comercial STOP, na área oriental do Porto, atualmente, hub de produção musical enquanto objeto de estudo, procurámos demonstrar como as formas participativas e colaborativas de fazer arquitetura se podem apresentar, de facto, como alternativas viáveis para a reestruturação das políticas sociais. |
