Cogumelo pequeno, cogumelo grande: Proporção e relativismo no apocalipse de L'Étoile Mystérieuse

Abstract

Between October 1941 and May 1942, Hergé publishes in weekly strips the tenth volume of The Adventures of Tintin, The Shooting Star, in the so-called "Soir volé", the newspaper Le Soir controlled by the Germans during the Nazi occupation of Belgium. In this story, he stages the imminence of the end of the world caused by the possible collision of an asteroid with the Earth. The event doesn't take place as predicted, but it gives birth to a floating island in the Arctic which the hero of the series will explore. Taking as a starting point the first book version of the adventure, published in colour in September 1942, this article aims at analysing this look upon the Apocalypse by determining the graphic and narrative modes used by the author for the construction of the individual perception of the end of the world and by arguing that this experiencing is inevitably dependent on the notions of relativism and proportion.
