| Abstract: | The skin is the main barrier of defense against infections. After the skin is damaged by an external agent, a complex process with a goal of repairing the damaged area is started. To achieve a faster and more favorable healing of skin lesions, different biomaterials have been created, among these, are sponges, hydrogels and electro spun membranes. Different polymers have been used for the preparation of these biomaterials, among which, is Hyaluronic Acid, an extracellular matrix compound with anti-aging effects and hydrating properties, making it an extremely efficient molecule for biomedical usage. Our goal is to provide is a short overview of the different HA-based wound dressings that are being tested in vivo. |
| Description: | A pele é a principal barreira de defesa contra infecções. Após ser danificada por um agente externo, inicia-se um processo complexo com o objetivo de reparar a área danificada. Para alcançar uma cicatrização mais rápida e favorável das lesões de pele, diferentes biomateriais foram criados, entre estes, estão esponjas, hidrogéis e membranas criadas por eletrospinning. Diferentes polímeros têm sido utilizados para a preparação desses biomateriais, dentre os quais, destaca-se o Ácido Hialurónico, um composto da matriz extracelular com efeitos antienvelhecimento e propriedades hidratantes, tornando-se uma molécula extremamente eficiente para uso biomédico. Nosso objetivo é fornecer uma breve visão dos diferentes curativos à base de AH que estão a ser testados in vivo. |
