Tómame ahora que aún es temprano : representaciones del paso del tiempo en la poesía de Juana de Ibarbourou

Abstract

The appearance of Juana de Ibarbourou on the Rio de la Plata literary scene with the publication of Las lenguas de diamante (1919) brought with it a breath of fresh air which was diametrically opposed to the agonising rattles of Hispanic Modernism which at the time were being felt in many parts of the continent. Among the themes cultivated by the Uruguayan author in her wideranging work, special relevance is given to the question of the passage of time and the loss of physical beauty and strength. Given the above, the article attempts to summarise the different representations of the passage of time to be found in Juana de Ibarbourou's work, thus contributing not only to the study of her work, but also to the research on the yet little analysed relationship between literature, age and women's writing.
