| Abstract: | The Church of the Convent of San Francis of Bragança is the object of the current study. The Franciscan Church was founded in the 13th century - embryonic period in the life of the Order of San Francis, the kingdom of Portugal, and of Bragança. Thus, the dissertation seeks to value the Church of San Francis of Bragança as a historical and architectural object bearing an extensive narrative. The study interprets the Church of the Convent of San Francis of Bragança as an integral part of a series of extensive entities; the Church of San Francis of Bragança is analyzed as an inseparable part of the history and architecture of: Portugal; Order of San Francis; Iberian Peninsula; portuguese region of Trás-os-Montes; city of Bragança. The study is born from dissecting historical intersections between said entities and the way they are reflected in the historic and architectural narrative of the Church of San Francis of Bragança |
| Description: | A Igreja do Convento de São Francisco de Bragança constitui o objeto do presente estudo. A instituição franciscana brigantina surge no século XIII; período de vida embrionário da Ordem de São Francisco, do reino de Portugal e do núcleo urbano de Bragança. Assim, a dissertação procura valorizar a Igreja de São Francisco de Bragança enquanto objeto histórico e arquitetónico portador de uma extensa narrativa. O estudo interpreta a Igreja e o Convento de São Francisco de Bragança enquanto parte integrante de uma série de entidades mais extensas; o templo franciscano brigantino é observado no tempo longo enquanto objeto indissociável da história e da arquitetura de Portugal, da Ordem de São Francisco, do território ibérico e transmontano e do núcleo urbano de Bragança. O estudo nasce precisamente do cruzamento entre a evolução histórica e/ou arquitetónica dos vários organismos e do modo como o mesmo se reflete na Igreja de São Francisco de Bragança. |
