A intervenção em espaço urbano na cidade de Bissau Guiné-Bissau. O projecto urbano numa nova renovação territorial

Abstract

The urbanization processes are directly related to the idea of social urbanity, in such a way that any intervention should imply a deep recognition of the ways of living of a certain population: how they live and feel the city. The city of Bissau, Republic of Guinea-Bissau (RGB), has developed in two competing paths: the "formal city" and the "informal city". In the second half of the century. XX, especially in the post-independence period, the political and economic crises made an integrated and regulated urban development impossible, with the consequences of disqualifying spaces, the tension between functions and uses, and particularly, irregularities in the mobility and accessibility system. This dissertation intends to elaborate an intervention proposal for the city of Bissau, supported by an in-depth analysis of its urban context, starting from the reading of historical records to the direct recognition of the current condition. The intervention focuses on the Marginal do Rio Geba, as it recognizes in this area potential for enhancing the urban and social environment and for harmonizing formal and informal realities, starting to function as an organizing and structuring axis of the various elements that make up the city from Bissau.
