Abstract

In the last twelve years, countries such as Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Ireland and Cyprus went through an economic crisis with deep social and political consequences: unemployment, emigration, the persistent threat of a financial collapse. This study aims to analyze how some young Portuguese women poets - in their thirties or forties - answer to this context of crisis, either feeling excluded from a world controlled by the strict rules of the market, or resisting to that exclusion and to the continuous precarity through a powerful irony. Thus, facing the fatalist logic of austerity, each poet reinvents all the time their identity, their active presence in society, their own language, a resistance sometimes solitary but always protected against dominant speeches.
