| dc.description | A identificação de novos talentos no desporto pode ser uma vantagem para os clubes e seleções tanto a nível financeiro como a nível de resultados. Com a identificação dos possíveis genes que poderão dar vantagem aos atletas, a sua seleção poderá tornar-se mais fácil e precoce. Entre esses genes encontra-se o da ECA, que dependendo do polimorfismo, parece dar mais vantagem a ciclistas ou a nadadores, mas tendo uma associação com a corrida de resistencia menos esclarecida. A seleção de atletas pelo seu genoma poderá ter consequências éticas que necessitam de ser bem esclarecidas. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Talent identification in sports can be an advantage for clubs and national teams both financially and in terms of results. With the identification of candidate genes that could give athletes an advantage, their selection may become easier and premature. Among these there is the ACE gene, which depending on the polymorphism, seems to be advantageous to cyclists or swimmers, but has a less clarified association with endurance races. The selection of athletes by their genome may have ethical consequences that need to be clarified. | |
