Title: Management Strategies for the Organic Solid Wastes Produced in a Market - A Case study
Issue Date: 2003
Abstract: The aim is to establish the best strategy for management of the organic fraction of the solid wastes (OFSW) produced in a Portuguese market, taking into account the local conditions. * The assessed alternatives for such management were: i) volume reduction (VR), ii) size reduction followed by volume reduction (SVR), iii) composting and iv) anaerobic digestion (AD). * Some of the above-mentioned alternatives for OFSW management were experimentally tested (i and ii) while others were only technically discussed (iii and iv), but for all of them an economic analysis was performed.
