| Abstract: | Created in 1919, the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto emerged in a very complexpolitical time, marked by strong political and ideological tensions after the Great War. With its creation,the Government responded to a repeated demand by the University of Porto and public opinion for theintroduction of the humanities in this university, which until then was considered incomplete. The presenttext seeks to insert the creation of this Faculty in its historical context. |
